Hello
Jerry had his operation on October 1st and is managing to eat more now. Fortunately he did not lose loads of weight. Today, John and Liz brought him in a fish dish which he enjoyed. He was also up and about, and in the patient's room he was playing the piano (first time for years, he says). He is recovering well from the operation.
On Monday he will get news of whether his application for the recovery hospice has been successful.
Best Wishes

Dear Jerry
ReplyDeleteWith "our" birthday recently past, I had been thinking of you. Lost all my contact details a couple of years ago after fatal computer failure, so was pleased to be able to make contact with you again. But not to hear your news. What a year you have been having - so stay strong, stay fighting. And carry on playing the piano - now that is going back some time. I can still remember your piano in Tayben Avenue - and how you painted the walls of the room except for behind the piano! I am now well settled into the remote NW corner of the Highlands of Scotland. Sending you lots of positive thoughts, as I am sure all your friends far and wide are. Thank you Anne for setting this blog up, so that we can communicate with our good friend Jerry.

Hi Jerry,
ReplyDeleteNow I'm really sorry I was unable to reach you by telephone when I tried here and there in August and September. I hope you've gotten word about the hospice by now, but I admit to being nervous about the term "hospice." In the UK is a hospice some sort of rehabilitation center? I hope so.
I also of course hope that you're recovering as much as possible from the operation. Will they try to treat the remaining cancer cells they could not remove by chemo? It's going to be a difficult time, and I wish there were something I could do or say to make it easier. But not even an hour goes by when I do not think of you and how you might be doing. Thanks much to Anne for reestablishing this blog.
Much love, Dennis
